Gill Collinson Announced as New IPEM Chief Executive
IPEM is delighted to announce that it has appointed Gill Collinson as its new Chief Executive.
Gill joins IPEM from STEM Learning, where she is Director of Strategy and Partnerships. She will take up her new post in March 2025.
Upon her appointment, Gill said:
“I am delighted to be joining IPEM at this exciting time for the organisation and the professions it represents.
With the Government developing new plans for the NHS, as well as taking action in key areas for medical physics, and clinical engineering such as AI, there has never been a better time to be a member of IPEM. I’m really excited to work with our members, volunteers and expert and dedicated staff to ensure that IPEM is the leading voice in improving health through physics and engineering, enabling a diverse and inclusive professional community to deliver innovative practice development for the public good.”

Brief biography of Gill Collinson
A Chartered Engineer by background, Gill began her career in the energy, engineering, and manufacturing sectors, working with leading companies including Philips, Rolls-Royce, and Siemens. This diverse experience laid the foundation for her innovative approach to workforce development and STEM advocacy.
Since joining STEM Learning in 2014, Gill has played a key role in expanding the organisation’s reach, helping
it grow into the UK’s largest provider of STEM education. She has led impactful initiatives to inspire young people, support educators, and engage businesses in building a skilled and diverse STEM workforce.
Gill is deeply passionate about demonstrating the societal benefits of science and engineering and promoting the wide-ranging opportunities these fields offer. She serves as a Trustee of the Energy Saving Trust Foundation, a charity dedicated to advancing energy efficiency and sustainability. In addition, she has supported several charitable trusts, with a particular focus on improving access to education and career opportunities for disadvantaged groups.
Based in North Yorkshire, Gill enjoys staying active, travelling, and spending quality time with family and friends. Her personal and professional life reflects a commitment to driving meaningful change and creating a positive impact on society.
