New guidance on Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations
IPEM members have been involved in helping to produce two new publications which have just been published about the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations.
The guidance ‘IR (ME)R: Implications for clinical practice in diagnostic imaging, interventional radiology and diagnostic nuclear medicine’ seeks to explain how the requirements of the regulations should be interpreted and used in practice.
It has been produced by a working party, which included representatives from IPEM, the British Institute of Radiology, the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR), the British Society of Paediatric Radiology, and the Medical Exposures Group of Public Health England.
At the same time the Radiotherapy Board, which comprises IPEM, the RCR and SCoR, has produced guidance on the ‘Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations: Implications for clinical practice in radiotherapy’.
