Paper on guidance for MPE support for nuclear medicine published
A NEW paper on Medical Physics Expert support for nuclear medicine has been published.
The guidance sets out recommendations for adequate levels of MPE and broader physics support to run a safe nuclear medicine service.
The paper was written by a working party set up by IPEM’s Nuclear Medicine Special Interest Group, which included representatives from the British Institute of Radiology, the British Nuclear Medicine Society, and the Administration of Radioactive Substances Advisory Committee.
The working party, led by IPEM member Dr Fergus McKiddie, a Consultant Clinical Scientist at NHS Grampian in Aberdeen, built on the original IPEM Policy Statement on the subject and their paper ‘Guidance on Medical Physics Expert Support for Nuclear Medicine’ has now been published in the British Journal of Radiology.
As well as Dr McKiddie, fellow IPEM member Dr Alison Fletcher, a Principal Physicist at NHS Lothian in Edinburgh, was also on the working party and was one of the authors of the paper.
