Top award for IPEM member

A MEDICAL physicist has been named the Young Person of the Year by an industry association.

Dr Ejay Nsugbe won the AXREM Young Person of the Year Award during the UK Imaging and Oncology Congress.

AXREM (the Association of Healthcare Technology Providers for Imaging, Radiotherapy and Care ) is the UK trade association representing the interests of suppliers of diagnostic medical imaging, radiotherapy, healthcare IT and care equipment in the UK.

Dr Nsugbe, an IPEM member and the founder and chief engineer of Nsugbe Research Labs, said: ‘I am both ecstatic and elated to have been selected as the AXREM Young Medical Physicist of the year, it is certainly an invaluable award which I hope showcases my skills as a researcher and allows for the attracting of subsequent research funding for larger scale projects within my specialism.’

Dr Nsugbe’s background spans the areas of Control and Cybernetics, his research work involves the application of interpretable Artificial Intelligence in Obstetric Medicine to provide clinical decision support to tackle issues such as preterm delivery and labour prediction and also Man-Machine Augmentation/Upper-Limb Prosthesis Control for extreme amputations such as transhumeral and shoulder disarticulations using neuromuscular signals and brain wave signals.
