Updated guidance for image-guided radiotherapy published
A NEW report has been published to support the continued application of image-guided radiotherapy.
‘On target 2: updated guidance for image-guided radiotherapy’ was commissioned by the Radiotherapy Board, which comprises of IPEM, the Royal College of Radiologists and the Society and College of Radiographers.
The role of image guidance is primarily to ensure treatment delivery uncertainties are minimised and the report describes and recommends the best evidence-based practices for image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT).
The report also provides guidelines as to how individual centres may implement and/or optimise image-guidance processes locally.
IGRT is a core component of modern radiotherapy services and requires a multi-professional team approach.
