Mayneord Philips Educational Programme 2024 (MPEP): AI in Imaging and Treatment Planning
This programme is aimed at early career professionals. 'Early career' is normally defined as being within the first 10 years of your career. If you are unsure of your eligibility for this course, please email training@ipem.ac.uk for advice.
The programme hosts approximately 30 early-career professionals and has been successfully running since 2012. The topic for the programme in 2024 will be AI in Imaging and Treatment Planning and is aimed at early career professionals including NHS clinical scientists, post-graduate students and post-doctoral research. This will provide attendees with:
- A broad understanding of different Artificial Intelligence approaches and applications
- Knowledge of issues related to successful implementation of artificial intelligence in Imaging or Radiotherapy.
The programme will take the format of a one-day online training on Zoom, which will be followed by a short online follow up session held on 11th March 2025 and the opportunity to present and network at the UK Imaging and Oncology held in Liverpool, UK, 2nd – 4th June 2025. Attendance will be required at all of these points. Please be aware that attendees will be expected to cover their own expenses and attendance costs at UKIO.
Training Day - 12th November 2024
The training day will cover sessions on understanding, concepts and principles of AI in Imaging and Treatment Planning including:
- AI Primer: Demystifying the Jargon, presented by Richard Meades Principal Nuclear Medicine Physicist at Royal Free London NHS Trust
In the afternoon, attendees will be split into a Radiotherapy focused session or an Imaging focused session. These sessions will include:
- Automated Segmentation in Ultrasound, presented by James McLaughlan Associate Professor at University of Leeds
- Developing and Testing AI PET Algorithms, presented by Daniel McGowan Head of Education and Research at Oxford University Hospitals NHS FT
- Implementing AI Contouring for Radiotherapy, presented by Alison Starke Clinical Scientist at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Niall MacDougall Head of Clinical Dosimetry (Treatment Planning and Computing) at Barts Health NHS Trust
- Implementing AI Solutions for Radiotherapy at Imperial College, presented by Josh Mason Principal Radiotherapy Physicist at Imperial College Healthcare NHST Trust
Places are limited to 20 Radiotherapy registrations and 20 Imaging registrations.
