A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Scientist to join the Brachytherapy and Treatment Planning team in Radiotherapy Physics at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

The Centre operates two Varian Bravos afterloaders, providing over 700 HDR gynaecological Brachytherapy treatments per year. Treatment planning utilises the 3 CT Simulators and dedicated MRI simulator located at the BWoSCC.

In addition to supporting the gynaecological Brachytherapy service, the Clinical Scientist will work as a Medical Physics Expert and provide scientific advice for the I-125 prostate seed service, the national ophthalmic eye plaque service and the external beam Radiotherapy service. External beam radiotherapy is provided by thirteen Varian linear accelerators, with a wide range of specialised VMAT planning techniques including SABR for a wide range of clinical sites, many delivered using FFF technology.

Applicants should hold a 1st or upper 2nd class honours degree in Physics or allied subject.

A recognised MSc in Medical Physics and a Dip IPEM in Physical Sciences in Medicine or equivalent experience is required.

Applicants must also be a HCPC Registered Clinical Scientist and eligible to work as a Medical Physics Expert.

Candidates who are not currently MPEs will be considered for appointment if they can demonstrate they are within 12 months of certification.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate significant experience working as a Clinical Scientist with experience in Radiotherapy physics.
